Ethics & Sustainability

  • FAMILY-OWNED FACTORIES

We are proud to work alongside small, family-owned factories in Indonesia where we have built and maintained sincere relationships. Our garment technicians are working in fair conditions and are paid a living wage. As of this year, we have visited our factories and will continue to do so every season to ensure that these standards continue.

  • NATURAL FIBRES

With almost all our products being made in Bali, 93% of each collection is made from natural fibres and unblended fabrications, all of which are hand-sourced through our leading manufacturer.

  • ARTISINAL PROCESSES

All processes are completed by hand. This includes garment treatments, fabric dying, printing, and sewing. Handmade processes reduce carbon emissions and ensure the quality of our clothing.

  • FOREVER PIECES

With every season, our design team has worked closely with our manufacturer to source and create high quality fabrics and finishes, so you can keep your Cartel pieces for years to come. We educate our customers with correct garment care instructions to ensure their longevity. Better quality = less consumption.

  • MINIMISING CARBON EMISSIONS

We currently ensure each collection is transported from Indonesia to Australia in bulk shipments.
We work 3-4 seasons in advance to avoid multiple shipments and unnesesary emissions.

  • WORK IN PROGRESS

We are currently undergoing a packaging overhaul, looking at replacing our mailers and product packaging with biodegradable alternatives.
